An encounter with the work and ideas of photographic pioneer Eadweard Muybridge appears to have spurred Edison to pursue the development of a motion picture system. On February 25, 1888, in Orange, New Jersey, Muybridge gave a lecture that may have included a demonstration of his zoopraxiscope, a device that projected sequential images drawn around the edge of a glass disc, producing the illusion of motion. The Edison facility was very close by, and the lecture was possibly attended by both Edison and his company’s official photographer, William Dickson. Two days later, Muybridge and Edison met at Edison’s laboratory in West Orange; Muybridge later described how he proposed a collaboration to join his device with the Edison phonograph combination system that would play sound and images concurrently. No such collaboration

Nfl Teams’ History: The New York Jets

From GamblersTelevision.com The 2007 Buffalo Bills were hit hard by injuries to their defense. On offense 2004 1st round selection JP Losman was relegated to the bench in favor of 2007 3rd round pick Trent Edwards out of Stanford. Rookie Marshawn Lynch broke into the NFL scene and proved every bit as good as a first round pick in 2007. Oddsmakers have set the Buffalo Bills season win projected total for the 2008 season at 7 ½ wins. When you handicap season win totals you must, I mean must look at the schedule. Schedule The Bills play in the AFC East and that means two games against New England, Miami and the NY Jets. The Bills lost a home date, as they will play as the home team against the Miami Dolphins in Toronto on December 7th. Buffalo plays the NFC West this season with home games against Seattle and the worst team in the division San Francisco with road games at St Louis and Arizona. The Arizona game on October 5th is a tough back-to-back road spot as it’s a cross-country trip and the Bills will be playing the previous week in St Louis. Seattle has lost depth at wideout this season as well as losing their clutch kicker Josh Brown so the Bills could take their home opener. They also play the AFC West with a winnable home game against Oakland and a trip to lowly Kansas City. It will be tough to win at Denver and they draw the Chargers in their home stadium. Every home game is sold out except their final home game on December 28th against New England. Buffalo has a

Nfl Teams’ History: The New York Jets

There are a lot of great teams in the NFL today, and each has their own history.  In each history there is a beginning and a list of highs and lows throughout the year.  The New York Jets are no different.  They have a very rich history, based from their humble beginnings into a team that almost upset the entire league this last season with a rookie quarterback and a rookie coach making it deep into the playoffs.

The New York Jets started out as an experimental ball club created by Harry Wismer.  The year was 1959, and he was a part of a group of eight successful and aspiring entrepreneurs that started the American Football League (AFL).  Harry started his team and named them the New York Titans.  They played their very first game in the 1960 season and would start off the franchise career with a loss to the Buffalo Bills.  That didn’t matter as the New York Titans would see some huge improvements over the next ten years or so of play.

2008 Worst College Football Programs – a Year to Forget

“Without losers, there wouldn’t be winners” – unknown author, but probably a loser.

As we approach the climax of the college football season, The Sage of College Football (your humble author) suggests that we turn our attention for a few moments to those programs that once held such promise in the late summer months, only to smack their noodles into the frozen artificial turf of December’s reality. For some teams, season ending games conclude with the ritual of tearing down of goalposts. Others result in the school selling off unused hot dogs from the stadium deep freeze to starving students who spent their student loan money on beer.

At the professional level, teams that finish at the bottom refer to this time of year as the beginning of golf season. And given the paychecks of most players and coaches, they don’t have to worry much about competing with retirees for tee times. The one disappointment in 2008 has been that in writing

Wrigley Field

History

Main article: History of Wrigley Field

The park was built in six weeks in 1914 at a cost of about 0,000 (.3 million in 2008 dollars) by the Chicago lunchroom magnate “Lucky Charlie” Weeghman, who owned the Federal League Dolphins. (The club signed a fifty-five-year lease to use the park for app ,000 per year.) It was designed by the architect Zachary Taylor Davis (who four years earlier had designed Comiskey Park for the Chicago White Sox), incorporating the new “fireproof” building codes recently enacted by the city. According to some sources, when it opened for the 1914 Federal League season, Weeghman Park had a seating capacity of 14,000. According to another source, the original seating capacity was 20,000.

In late 1915 the Federal League folded. The resourceful Weeghman formed a syndicate including the chewing gum manufacturer William Wrigley Jr. to buy the Chicago Cubs from Charles P. Taft for about 0,000. Weeghman immediately

NFL Power Rankings Week 16: Comparing Teams to Christmas Holidays

NFL Power Rankings Week 16After the exciting week 15 of NFL, here I’m ready with NFL Power Rankings for Week 16.

We have been digesting the well known fact about Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints, which still remains on top in power rankings since long time.

This time, Vikings did good job on comparison with previous rankings. Expectations were really high on Green Bay Packers to be in top 5, but they could not stand upon. The unfortunate news about Dallas cowboys is about their shut down step towards NFL Playoff. I feel, it is tough for them to give important mark for this NFL regular season.

Jacksonville Jaguars are in 15 as of now which may fluctuate soon. How ever, they are not going to be competitors to Titans.

Finally, the worst team in the NFL is St. Louis Rams. Well, let us have a look over NFL Power Rankings for week 16:

(1) Indianapolis Colts
